Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale 2019: The Inside Scoop

APS2019_Blog.jpg

In the late 1950’s, Lilly Pulitzer eloped with Peter Pulitzer (yes, those Pulitzers, Peter is the grandson of Joseph, founder of the Pulitzer Prize) in Palm Beach, Florida. It didn’t take long for Lilly to open a juice stand right off Worth Avenue. In order to avoid staining her clothes with juice, she ordered brightly colored shifts in fun patterns to hide the inevitable stains. Soon Lilly’s dresses were getting more attention than her juice, and forever the entrepreneur, she felt she should give the people what they want. The brand has grown into what it is today, known for it’s brightly colored eye-catching patterns and classic silhouettes.

Twice a year, usually in January and September, Lilly Pulitzer has an amazing sale! This years sale starts in stores Saturday, September 7 and online Monday, September 9! Personally, I love shopping small and supporting a signature store! Pink of the Pines in Pinehurst, NC is my local signature store and I LOVE shopping with them. They are open Saturday 9a-5:30p, Sunday 10a-4p, Tuesday, and Wednesday 10a-5:30p. On Monday, the sale is only available online!! Plus when you shop in person you get access this weekend! If you’re waiting to shop the sale online, Monday at 8am EST is when the sale is live online! If you shop through Lilly Pulitzer directly, you’ll be placed in “line” and items tend to sell out quickly. One advantage to shopping with a signature store is how fast shipping is and the personal touch of customer service! I personally find it easier to shop online through signature stores, particularly Pink of the Pines! A few tips to maximize success if you’re shopping in person: arrive early, bring patience for lines, dress comfortably, and shop hands free utilizing a cross body or pants with pockets.

I got the opportunity to shop the sale early Friday in person at Pink of the Pines and oh my gosh y’all it was GOOD! So many fabulous items and I even brought a few home with me.

For size reference, I’m a medium/large in tops at Old Navy and a 12/14 in Old Navy denim depending on the cut. Currently a 36C bust.

First I tried on the UPF 50+ Faye Maxi Dress in Blue Peri Turtley Awesome Engineered Maxi Dress Originally $198, this dress is a steal at only $74 during the sale! I’m wearing a large, and I think this dress would be absolute perfection with a little baby bump! I’m 5’5 and definitely would need a slight heel or to get the dress hemmed.

I am obsessed with rompers, and since I have a longer torso, sometimes they don’t leave much to the imagination in the crotch. I’ve never had that problem with Lilly rompers and this Lula Romper in High Tide Navy Scuba Doo Engineered did not disappoint! I love the ruffle detail on the sleeve and the material is so soft! I’m wearing a large here. Originally $148, this is another great deal at only $59 during the sale!

More into pinks? This is the same style (Lula romper) but in High Tide Navy Its For Shore! This was originally $138 and is marked down to $49 during the sale! I love both color ways but I think I’m slightly partial to this one! I’m wearing a large here.

Okay, this combo is SO GOOD! I’m wearing an XL Alessa top in True Navy and paired it with Callahan knit shorts in Multi Sink or Swim! in a size 14. I could size down to a L in the top but the shorts are a perfect fit. I have lots of the original callahan style, but I am totally digging this knit! So comfortable. The shorts are originally $58 marked down to $39 and the top is $58 marked down to $44.

One of my favorite things about this Alessa top is the back! So cute! Between the ruffle and the deep V, I am digging this! It’s so versatile and at $44, I think a good price point.

I love a good embroidered short and I have a few pairs from Lilly I wore on our honeymoon! These Katia Embroidered Shorts in Blue Peri Swizzle Stripe did not disappoint. These are a size large and they’re a little snug, so at my current size, I could probably have gone for the XL. These do loosen with wear so I was very tempted to take the larges home with me! Originally $88, these beauties are only $39 during the sale!

My unofficial mom uniform these days are some form of athlesiure, and I just haven’t been able to pull the trigger on Lilly Luxletic because of the price tag. These UPF 50 Weekender Crop Leggings in Bright Navy Flock Together are so dang cute, when I saw them in a large, I knew I had to try them on. Originally $108, these are marked down to $54, and for that price, I brought them home with me! I don’t know how much actual working out I will do in them, but I definitely think they’re going into my athleisure rotation!

These pants are also luxletic, but a slightly different style. These are the UPF 50+ High Rise Weekender in Multi Sink or Swim and oh my gosh y’all they’re fantastic! They definitely are high rise and come up above my natural waist and I like that they’re full length. In my personal taste, they were just a tiny bit loose in the ankles. These even have a side pocket! So cute. Originally $108 marked down to $59 during the sale!

Another Luxletic item I loved was these gorgeous crops! They were an XL so too big for me, but these 21” inseam Weekender High Waisted Crops in High Tide Scuba Do are so cute! I know the lighting makes it look pink-tinged, but these are blues/greens/whites and GORGEOUS in person. There also is the cutest knotted detail on the side of the legs! Originally $108, they’re marked down to $59 during the sale!

Y’ALL. THIS TOP! I love when Lilly makes just a classic, high quality piece I can transition between seasons, and this top does not disappoint. I’m wearing a medium here in the 3/4 Sleeve Willa Top in Crew Blue Tint Yarn Dye Stripe Floral Eyelet and it fits incredibly well. This material does not have any stretch to it, but that’s part of what gives it such a nice shape. Originally $128, only $54 during the sale, and this beauty came home with me.

I love a good Lilly tuxedo! Real talk, I wore a dress to try on, and I needed something on my bottom half in order to show y’all tops. This Kristen Top in Multi Sink or Swim is so cute! It’s very light, easy to throw on, and I love the back. Originally $58, it’s marked down to $29 during the sale. I’m wearing a L here and feel it fits true to size.

This Lacy Top in Blue Haven Hey Hey Soleil is such a steal! I’m wearing a L and it fits very TTS. It’s a very light top and I think would be easy to dress up for date night or throw on for daycare drop off. Originally $48, I brought this gem home for $24.

CALLING ALL BRIDES! I know this looks pink, but it’s the lighting. Trust me, it is stark white. This Maya Shift in Resort White Floral Lace is one of the best deals of the sale in my opinion, at only $64 when it was originally $248!!! This would be perfect for a graduation, a bridal shower, engagement party, rehearsal dinner…the list goes on and on. This is a 12 and was just a hair too snug in my hips- I think a 14 would have been perfect.

I love popovers, and I’ve just recently ventured into popover dresses. I love the one I own, so I definitely wanted to try the Skipper Ruffle Popover Dress in Blue Grotto So Offishal. I’ll be honest, the ruffle was a bit much for me, and I knew I wouldn’t reach for it in my closet if I didn’t love it. This is a great deal, originally $158 marked down to $64. This is also one of those pieces that will transition perfectly into fall and even winter!!

I have always found Sophie dresses to be clingy, but I loved them when I was pregnant because they hugged my bump perfectly! This Sophie Dress in Whisper Blue Yeah Buoy is so cute! This is an XL, and I usually size up in Sophies. I think these are a great example of something that looks amazing on some people and just okay on others…but as with all things, if it makes you happy, wear it!!!

Full disclosure: I’m wearing these control top undies and since you should always leave your panties on when trying on swimwear, mine are visible in these pics. I’m not embarrassed in any way, because I’m just keeping it real, but in the effort to be totally transparent, that’s what’s going on here. I’ve been wanting some Lilly swimwear for years, and this was my first time trying any on. Generally the consensus is that you should size up one in the one pieces, so this is a 14. I really wanted to love this, but this style just did not feel the most flattering on my body. This is the Dalian Side Lattice One Piece in Bali Blue Sway This Way Swim and I love love love the lattice detailing! I have a friend with this exact suit and it looks amazing on her! Originally $138, this is only $69 during the sale.

Now this suit almost came home with me. I felt like a million bucks in the Araza One Piece in Light Aqua Spritz. This is a 14 and I feel like it fit me incredibly well. The only reason I did not buy this suit is because I’m still pretty recently post partum and I’m hoping to get back into my prebaby clothes, in which case this suit would be too big. While this is a good deal at $62 marked down from $128, I would be incredibly upset if it didn’t fit next summer (and also happy because that would mean my preSqueaks clothes fit again). I know it looks pink, but its blues and whites in real life, and it is just stunning!!!

I’ve mentioned before that I love popovers, and this is no exception. I think popovers help the transition to fall, because they pair so well with jeans, and a vest for extra warmth. I have too many already, but these two were too good not to share. These are both Skipper Popovers, the first image is Blue Haven Hey Hey Soleil and the second Multi Sink or Swim. These are also both size Medium. I prefer a smaller size in my popovers, even now I can fit into my smalls, but I prefer a more fitted look. These are originally $98, now only $69 each during the sale. Popovers usually go fast so don’t hesitate!

Here are a few pictures of the sale section at Pink of the Pines! They have tons and tons, including kids! They also have jewelry, accessories, shoes, hats, and some pillows.

I had the best time shopping with the girls at Pink of the Pines! Go see them this weekend: Saturday 9a-5:30p, Sunday 10a-4p, Tuesday, and Wednesday 10a-5:30p. On Monday, the sale is only available online!!
