Sephora Summer Bonus Sale Must-Haves

Now y’all know I love me some Beautycounter, but some safer options are available through retailers such as Sephora, and there are some products I just can’t bring myself to give up (I’m looking at you, aerosol hair care…). Right now is the Sephora Summer Bonus sale, which means that certain levels of Sephora’s loyalty program can get 15-20% off. Being a Beauty Insider is free, and it enables you to earn free items with points earned for every dollar spent as well as a special birthday gift. When you spend $350 per calendar year, you become a VIB and when you spend $1,000 in a calendar year, you become a Rouge level insider. Now I may have told my husband that you get 5 points per dollar spent but between an elopement and then a wedding, I’ve had Rouge status for the last two years. Hey at least I don’t smoke crack. There are worst habits, okay!!! Anyway, VIB’s get 15% off during the sale and Rouge members get 20% off. Below I’ve rounded up what I’m purchasing during the sale this year, some of which are new to me items and some are repurchases of tried and true favorites!

1. Bite The Bullet Lip Kit

I really love Sephora sales to buy things like this. I love mini size because never in my life have I used up a full lipstick and I’m very noncommittal with lip color since I feel like trends are changing frequently. This kit has $63 worth of product for $25, and during the sale I can snag it for $20! The tarte and Urban Decay lippies are both full size so I’m even more excited to try this for this price point

2. IGK First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo

Y’all. I can go 5 days without washing my stick straight, fine, thin, limp as a cooked noodle hair thanks to this voodoo magic. If I was a contestant on Naked and Afraid, this and a toothbrush would be the items I chose to bring with me to the unknown (probably another reason why I’ll never be on that show LOL but hey). It is so good. It is probably eating a hole in the ozone layer but look I recycle, I practice antibiotic stewardship, and I bring my own reusable grocery bags so let me have my aerosol haircare, okay? This stuff is SO GOOD and it’s worth every penny of the $27. I paid full price for my first can and it was worth it so even though I’m not running out, I’m buying another can when it’s 20% off and only $21.60

3. Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3

While we’re talking about my hair, let’s talk about postpartum hair loss. Look, I pretty much have bald spots and my hair is brittle and breaking like no ones business. My girl Katelyn at Hidden Beauty Salon in Williamsburg is my ride or die but I can only drive 4 hours for my hair every so often, so I’m taking matters into my own hands and doing Olaplex at home. I’ve had an Olaplex treatment before in the salon so I’m hoping this will get me at least similar results. I also appreciate that it has the “clean at Sephora” seal…not as impressive as Beautycounter’s Never List but hey, better than nothing! Regularly $28, comes to $22.40 during the sale.

4. Moroccan Oil Color Depositing Mask Mini

Ok, I know. Pink hair. But hey, YOLO! I’m about to be the coolest mom at daycare drop off. In reality, this is a temporary color-depositing conditioner and since I’m not a platinum blonde, I’m not sure how much this will really do to my hair. It’s only $7 regularly, and I scored it for $5.60 during the sale and for less than $6 I could not resist. Now the real question: do I tell Alex beforehand or just surprise him??? hehehe

5. The Ordinary Multipeptide Serum for Hair Density

Unfortunately, The Ordinary isn’t included in the sale, but for only $17.90 I wanted to give this a try. The reviews are filled with PP women raving about how this helped with the PP hair loss and women with flakey scalps raving about how this helped immensely (news flash: I have dry skin on my face and body, so no surprise I have a dry scalp too!). Worth a shot and worst case, I return it. Sephora has a no questions asked return policy and I can return in store, so it feels like literally zero risk.

6. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

Last but not least, a repurchase. I have loved this mascara and will continue to purchase it until I find something I love more. This is my third tube! First time in my life I’ve loved something so much I’ve repurchased twice haha. It has a cult following for good reason, and I love it. I do my top lashes with this and my bottom lashes with the same mascara but in waterproof so it doesn’t flake. Also just a friendly reminder: replace all your mascara every 6 months because #germs. Regularly $25, only $20 during the sale!
